University of Miami Wedding

Sarah + Spencer

At 6 p.m. on Saturday June 24, 2017 Sarah and Spencer tied the knot at the historic Plymouth Congregational Church of Miami. Situated in the lush and leafy neighborhood of Coconut Grove, the 100-year-old church, with its tropical scenery and ivy-clad, stone façade, is the perfect backdrop for the couple’s nuptials. Both the church and reception venue at the Newman Alumni Center belong to the University of Miami, where the couple first met while attending as students.

Bride Sarah shone in a vintage-inspired, scalloped, lace bodice dress. Her hair and makeup were done by hairstyle and makeup gurus Uniique Image of Fort Lauderdale. Spencer complimented her perfectly in a classic black tux with black bowtie – elegant and understated.

Today the lovely couple have nearly 100 guests of friends and family in attendance to witness their union. The traditional ceremony is complete with organ music and candles– so graciously lit by the groomsmen— lining the aisles. Reverend Abel Cotelo officiates the ceremony, as the intimate party of loved ones look on, the couple exchange vows, and then it's off to celebrate!

To kick off the festivities, guests first enjoy a cocktail hour at the Newman Alumni Center – just a 10-minute drive from the church. This portion of the evening is accompanied by a pianist, while guests sip and nibble on adult beverages and hors d’oeuvres.

The reception is soon to follow at 7:45 p.m., just as it turns to night. Guests are seated and dinner is served. The bridal party and groomsmen take turns delivering heartfelt speeches and humored toasts. The couple’s family and friends have gathered from different reaches of the globe for this special occasion and the atmosphere is bright and convivial with people mingling amidst the light-filled venue.

After dinner, everyone is ready to hit the dance floor! With a DJ spinning tunes, people are inspired to show off their moves, evidenced by this shot of mother and son enjoying a moment by photographer So-Min Kang

The bride tosses her bouquet, and the party rollicks on until just about midnight.
